Admissions Requirements

Work Experience

Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of three years of work experience.

Applicants who have completed a master’s degree must have a minimum of two years of work experience. 

Exceptions may be made for exceptionally qualified candidates, allowing flexibility in the required years of work experience (experience is still required, but there is no restriction on the specific duration).

Language Proficiency

If applicants’ native language is not English, they should provide a score report of English language test.

English Language Entry Requirements: TOEFL (minimum score of 90), IELTS (6.5 or higher) or other proof of English proficiency.

No Chinese language proficiency is required for the program.

Requirements on Citizenship

Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship (including residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) and acquired foreign citizenship must provide the documents certifying the cancellation of their Chinese citizenship and household registration.

If the applicant automatically acquired foreign citizenship at birth in a foreign country, and their parents were both Chinese citizens, or one parent was a Chinese citizen, the parent (with Chinese citizenship) must have been a permanent resident in the foreign country prior to the applicant's birth.

Note: If the applicant is concluded to have Chinese citizenship by the Chinese public security department after application, admission or enrollment, the applicant will be disqualified from application, admission or enrollment or withdrawal from school will be required.

Supporting Documents

Applicants must log in to the Online Application System for International Students of Zhejiang University (Link), complete the required fields, and upload the original or notarized scanned copies of the following materials.

1. A photocopy of the passport front page.
* Passports should be valid until at least March 1, 2026.

2. Highest degree certificates.
* Those who provide pre-graduation certificate or student status certificate at application MUST provide Bachelor's degree diploma no later than registration.

3. Academic transcripts from Bachelor’s degree studies.

4. Language proficiency certificates (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS)..

5. A 1500-word personal statement, in Chinese or English, include study and work experience, reasons for application, and study proposals.

6. Two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors.
* The letter must include the professor’s signature, contact phone number, and email address.

7. Published academic papers or other academic achievements. (If applicable)

8. Applicants are encouraged to submit GRE/GMAT test scores.

9. Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and acquired foreign citizenship must provide:
* Documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese citizenship;
* Documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese household registration;
* Documents certifying the acquirement of foreign citizenship;
* Self-Statement Form of Nationality Status and Nationality Confirmation and Guarantee Letter (Download).

10. If the applicant automatically acquired foreign citizenship at birth in a foreign country, and both parents were Chinese citizens, or one parent was a Chinese citizen, the applicant must provide:
* Documents certifying the acquirement of foreign citizenship at the time of birth;
* Documents certifying parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent residence in the foreign country before the applicant’s birth;
* Self-Statement Form of Nationality Status and Nationality Confirmation and Guarantee Letter (Download).

11. Commitments for Zhejiang University Master Application (Download). The PDF version of the Commitment Form must be fully completed and hand-signed. Applications without this form will not be accepted.

  • Submission of Supporting Documents

    A complete set of supporting documents must be uploaded via the application portal. DO NOT send hard copies.

    Note:

    · Supporting documents must be legible and clear.

    · Name the files in English.

    · Applicants are required to upload documents for the program applied.

  • Interview (On a Rolling Basis)

    Our admissions team will carefully select candidates to be interviewed. Interviews will be conducted via videoconference on a rolling basis. However, we recommend that each applicant apply as early as possible.

Application Submission

* Note: The assessment result is usually sent by email within 4–8 weeks after the interview.

Methods of payment:

1. Application fee and tuition can be paid via the online application system as listed above.

2. Alternatively, application fee and tuition can be paid to the University's Bank Account (Link) and upload the remittance letter to the System, including the payee's name and contact details.

Scholarship

1. The Application deadline for the Zhejiang Government's Scholarship for New International Master's Degree Students is February 28, 2025. (Link)

2. ZIBS Hai Scholarship

The ZIBS Hai Scholarship is designed to reward individuals with outstanding potential. It is open to all ZIBS international applicants. The scholarship will be disbursed after the student arrives on campus; however, students are required to pay the full tuition upon registration. Applicants should complete the Hai Application Form and submit it along with other application materials via the application system.

* Qualified full-time applicants will be considered for a one-time scholarship of up to RMB 30,000 at the time of application

* Qualified part-time applicants will be considered for a scholarship of up to RMB 118,000 at the time of application

* The final interpretation of the ZIBS Hai Scholarship is at the discretion of the ZIBS Admission Office.
